Dr. Tarek Hassanein received his medical degree from the Faculty of Science/Alexandria University in 1982. He later completed an Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at the Faculty of Science/Alexandria University in 1987. He then served an Internal Medicine Residency at Wayne State University, and a Clinical Research Fellowship as well as Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in 1994.
Dr. Hassanein specializes in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology and helps patients with GI diseases.ย Heย is a Professor of Medicine at the School of Medicine in San Diego, California (UCSD). He also serves as the Director of Southern California GI & Liver Centers and is the Director of the Clinical Trials Center. Dr. Hassanein is the Co-Director of Liver Transplantation at Scripps Clinic.
Dr. Tarek Hassanein is certified by theย American Board of Internal Medicine in Transplant Hepatology. He also speaks English, Arabic, and German.
