Palestinian cuisine seems to be having a moment in the United States, with significant and forward-looking chefs like Reem Assil, Lamees Dahbour and Mona Leena Michael leading the way here; elsewhere, Sameh Wadi and Amanny Ahmad are holding it down in Minneapolis-St. Paul and New York City, respectively. The past two years also saw the release of several books on the subject: Yasmin Khan’s Zaitoun, Joudie Kalla’s Baladi and Reem Kassis The Palestinian Table.
This class of chefs is exciting, grappling with the politically complicated task of carving out space for their cuisine in a time when even mentioning Palestine as a homeland or country of origin is fraught and rarely even permitted by the style guides of mainstream media.

2 months agoBeit Rima is now my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in San Francisco. The food portion is big but it is no way compromising the quality of the food. The mezze platter is an example. Each dip is so thick and flavor packed that you can't wipe them all out that easily. Another great dish is the fried potato. Again, big portion yet the flavor and crispiness is all over the dish. The chicken kebab is amazing too. I would love to come back again for sure!

7 months agoThere is a really long wait, but wow the food was incredible. The food is prepared Family style, and I shared the dishes with three other people, so four people in total and we had this West Bank beer. Just come please. It’s impossible to describe the food because it’s so good. Strongly recommend the lamb, shakshouka, and hummus (or the sampler platter). The chicken was a bit bland but the overall experience was unaffected. The hand kneaded bread was great.

6 months agoSuper cute authentic place on Church/Market. Love it for amazing taste of everything they make there and super fast service. Their popularity is 100% proven. Depending on when you come you might need to wait to be seated but believe me you’ll be rewarded. My favorite plate there is mezze sampler- amazing combo of four middle eastern mezzes plus falafel and pickles. Their muhammara is so delicious 💘 I’m recommending this place to anyone who ask about middle eastern food in SF, and even though there are more fancy places around Beit Rima charms by it’s coziness and homemade style of food

a year agoOn a rainy Sunday at 1pm, there were a few open tables so we could be immediately seated. You order at the front and then food came out pretty quickly. The dips sampler appetizer and their signature hand kneaded bread is nice quantity and very yummy. Definitely enjoyed this. The lamb shank is small though, but it was yummy. Enjoy!

5 months agoHave been wanting to come here for quite some time and it did not disappoint! Everything on the menu looked *amazing*. I had such a hard time deciding on what to order - as a vegetarian, usually there’s only a handful of things to choose from, but most items on the menu were veggie. Landed on the Mezze Sampler and Muhalabia, both of which I would highly recommend. Will definitely be back to try everything else on the menu
