We are heartbroken and beyond disappointed with the way this hospital has handled our situation. After losing baby Lillian just two days ago, we have been clinging to every moment with baby Luther for comfort and healing. Up until now, we were allowed to visit Luther every day as a family, including his grandparents and his uncles, (ages 17 and 8). But suddenly, the hospital has decided that his Uncles can no longer see him. This cruel and arbitrary change has added so much unnecessary pain to an already devastating time for our family. Our family who are grieving the loss of their beloved baby Lillian, now can't spend precious time with their baby brother, on the last day we are here. The lack of compassion and consistency in these decisions is shocking, especially given the circumstances. Families deserve better treatment during such fragile moments. This experience has left us deeply hurt and disappointed, and we urge the hospital to reconsider its policies and how they treat grieving families. This Hospital will medically kidnap your children. And the employees have no compassion or care about anything but themselves. And your money.

Sharing 1 year later, after hormones have settled to make sure Iโ€™m leaving a clear and honest review instead of a heated one. However, my experience was so bad, Iโ€™m still mad. In Dec, 2023 I had a baby at this hospital. Prenatal care was fair, the C-section was done relatively well Iโ€™d say except for them damaging a nerve that took 6 months to recover. The recovery, was awful. My OR nurse apologized to my next nurse for needing to take care of me because I was throwing up. They whined and laughed in front of me as if I wasnโ€™t there, making me feel even worse. I was given meds for the vomiting that made me worse, and was ignored the multiple times I begged for help or to see a doctor. My o2 dropped below 80 every time I dozed off and I felt like I was dying. During this recovery I was forgotten about multiple times, didnโ€™t get meds on time (by hours), had nurses pushing me to take narcotics I canโ€™t take and had noted as such. Left in blood soaked sheets despite asking for a change. There were maybe 2 nurses that were not awful to me. Now to baby. He was rushed to the NICU for fluid in his lungs. When I finally made it to see him he had a feeding tube, breathing tube and IV. They were running every test known to man and when I asked my husband what was going on he said the doctors were worried there might be something going on. I was still sick and not with it so couldnโ€™t think of what questions to ask. Long story short, they withheld skin to skin and breastfeeding until my husband demanded they let us, when it helped babies condition 100% there was ONE dr that supported and spoke up for us to let it continue. I had to be discharged early to be able to go stay with my baby because they had no mother baby rooms available. And ended up with a post op infection that that on all nurse shrugged her shoulders about, my husband had to go home to be with our older child. But, I got him well enough to come home and heโ€™s done great since. Iโ€™ve looked over all the tests they did and discovered all the โ€œscaryโ€ things the doctors were talking about. They TORTURED my baby with all these tests (including a spinal tap) for 2 โ€œalmost feverous readingsโ€ of LESS THAN 99 degrees! And wondered WHY his body was so stressed after that? Couldnโ€™t have his mother after birth, covered in tubes, CONSTANT blood draws. I am truly disgusted. They acted so worried about this baby we thought we might lose him, and all he needed was his lungs cleared and some antibiotics for that and to have his mom. I had also refused to donate my placenta, and requested to keep it, I had later changed my mind and decided to donate it. When I asked if I needed to sign anything; the research lady told me no. They have my signature on file and sheโ€™d handle it. Excuse me? I asked 3 people about this, and none of their explanations made legal sense to me. I am so appalled by the experience that Iโ€™d sue if I thought we had enough documentation. I feel they preyed on me being sick and my husband trusting they knew what they were doing. Iโ€™ve since moved to a different state that takes health care seriously and will never go back, or recommend anyone have a baby here.

I called in last night about my 9 month old having a bruise on his head due to his siblings playing around him as he was sitting on the floor and they automatically put child abuse! Apparently kids can't be kids anymore according to the nurse on call Megan Vorhies.. I have a 5 year old boy with ADHD and possible autism running around and a almost 4 year old little girl who suffers from Psychological problems due to being born 2 months early! Yes accidents happen! I'm not going to keep them from playing they're kids for christ sake. Making such a serious accusation such as child abuse i can promise you will cost you your job! Where do you see any abused kids?!?! I see 3 happy, healthy, very well cared for children.

Everything the UofI Healthcare touches automatically becomes terrible. Since they have taken over many of the Mercy facilities it is almost impossible to have competent help. Only wish google had the option to give negative stars in their review options.

My brother has been undergoing treatments for leukemia. He was hospitalized for almost a month and has undergone outpatient treatments for the same time frame. Both doctors and staff have given exceptional care, anticipating his every need. So very impressed with his care!!! Thank you to this fine institution.
