Highlighting our nurse HELEN. She works in the ER. (FLOAT POOL RN) My dad had a stroke about a year ago and we have been to many emergency room since then and we have seen a lot of nurses. She by far has been the best nurse we have ever had. She very kind and patient with my dad and my family. Most importantly she was THOROUGH! Answered every question and the ones she weren’t authorized to answer she made sure she ask the doctor and got right back with us. Not to mention the ER was packed. People lined up outside of rooms. She needs a raise IMMEDIATELY or some type of recognition. Thank you so much Helen

i had 2 scheduled surgeries here, i traveled from way out of state b/c surgeon selection. this place is like buying a used car at shady dealer with buyer beware assumed and vibes of hostile IRS audit interrogation. first surgery: everything was wrong with this place outside the OR/OR prep. registration could have been 100% online with a review on arrival instead that made whole process stressful post surgery getting food was a challenge, wasnt asking for anything that took any real prep, just a few most basic hospital foods : jello, broth and lemon slices/wedges for water. uber eats or even walking to nearby coffee shop in hospital gown would have been quicker by measures of hours. i was on self restricted diet, not medically restricted Nurse tried to manipulate me in room by laying out thick layer of deceptive concern. second visit: not even being admitted for overnight was even more toxic, including registration asking where i worked and where i was born - not only not relevant but also sets me up for increased risk next time they get breached. webcam in my face during registration process, i have a wide variety of anxiety disorders that get triggered under less stressful situations than registration here. the most low effort disability request was essentially disregarded in favor of a wrist band for it. nurse tried to give me meds that had high probability of causing allergic reaction, they know my allergies - she persisted after i told her i was allergic - they were also unnecessary. if she had given me the NDC code i could have checked the ingredients as im allergic to a common ingredient, but when i asked she treated me like i was on crack. my surgeon had to tell her to step down. the nurse needs to learn about consent and patients right to refuse, also how to listen/have productive dialog i once had an emergency surgery at mayo clinic (AZ), Inova doesnt even come remotely close to standards of care or making patient feel comfortable.

I’ve been here a few times, for a few different reasons. We stayed overnight once for my daughter when she was a baby and had a great pediatric experience. I’ve also been to the ER a few times and had to stay here over night myself. The ER is not the best. Some staff members in the ER are unprofessional, laughing loudly, talking about their personal life in front of patients, mocking the patients pain, being sarcastic with the patients, all while many patients are suffering. I stayed over night and had good nurses but my room was dirty when I arrived. The bed had stains on the rails and the shower had not been clean. When I told the nurse about it he replied with “this isn’t a 5 star hotel.” Also getting fed, while staying there seemed to be an issue. There is no system as far as when the food is served or when you should order but if you don’t order then you don’t get fed. However no one ever told me when or how I should order. If you don’t have a visitor from outside come and bring you snacks/meals, you’ll be quite hungry.

As a child of an elderly disabled person my mother's 2 weeks stay here has been hell. She was literally left sitting in her feces on the side of the bed for 8 hours. The doctors have been uncooperative and unsupportive. I was lied to by nursing staff at least twice. And now because she's been discharged to a nursing facility she's being threatened with additional cost because I want just place her anywhere for the sake of discharge. Keep in mind my mother has insurance. Like it doesn't matter at all that a person would need to view and review the facility that they're placing their parent into for care. And I'm actually concerned that leaving this review may result in some sort of patient retaliation. I don't care if I'm dying I would never use this facility again for any of my family's needs.
