I was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Syria. After graduating from high school, I returned to the United States and received my undergraduate degree at Brown University. Inspired by my parents who are both physicians, I attended Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed residency and fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
I have been passionate about cardiology since my second year of medical school, when I observed the thrilling aspects of auscultation and the cardiac physical exam. Over the ensuing years of training, my enthusiasm continued to grow, particularly the use of advanced imaging technologies for diagnosis and treatment. Most of all, I enjoyed working with patients and their families and helping them navigate complex health problems. I have taken the time to master advanced imaging and I attained the highest level of training in echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and cardiac CT angiography. I was formerly director of a cardiac MRI program in my prior position.
I was fortunate to then find an opportunity at Kaiser Permanente in the East Bay, where my wife grew up, to be closer to family. I chose Kaiser Permanente because I wanted to be part of a state-of-the-art and integrated healthcare system that optimizes quality and patient outcomes.
Patients can expect that I will listen carefully and will provide an individualized and evidence-based approach to their condition. I enjoy managing complex medical scenarios, while engaging and educating patients and their families.
