Who couldโve guessed it? How could we have known back in 2013 when we launched Fava Pot that Food Network would eventually vote us one of โAmericaโs 26 Best Food Trucksโ — or that in four short years we would turn that successful food truck business into an even more successful brick-and-mortar restaurant?
From the beginning, we kept our eyes on the prize; serving the best of healthy, home-style Egyptian cuisine in an atmosphere that would make our customers feel like they were amongst a family. We do this by sourcing high-quality ingredients to cook our authentic meals. That means serving locally sourced foods such as chicken and game hens that are antibiotic-free and succulent meats that are grass-fed. And we responded by providing what more and more of our customers were asking for; delicious vegetarian and gluten-free options.
And we never sacrifice on value. That means our signature falafel is made entirely from scratch โ no powders or premade doughs. And those famed fava beans? We slow-cook them for 12 hours in special spices.
When I left Egypt in 2004, I kept my beloved homeland and its distinctive home cooking at heart. Back then I could not find a restaurant in DC that offered Egyptian food. The Fava Pot dream has come true and I am so grateful to our partners, my team โ and most especially our customers โ for making it possible for us to serve you a distinctive Egyptian experience!

a week agoGrab a table and order at the table via QR code. This setup is different than Iโm used to, but I kind of like the convenience of it all. The server was nice but the food took a little longer than expected to come out. Having said that, it was well worth the wait. I got the Koshary bowl and highly recommend you do the same. My lunch mates were also delighted by their kofta and chicken sandwiches, respectively. Iโm glad I finally got out here and canโt wait to return. *also, vegan and veg items are well label

a month agoFava Pot is the only Egyptian restaurant in the DMV. It has two locations. Visited the Falls Church location and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We had the Eat Like an Egyptian sampler, though pricy, it will easily feed two people and give you a wonderful sample of everything Fava Pot serves. All of the food is made on the premises and tastes wonderful. Egyptian falafel is made from Fava beans, so it will taste different than you are used to.

4 months agoI am writing this review 3 weeks later, so I cannot recall all of the delicious flavors of the food ... but, the owner (?) was fantastic, the cuisine was distinct from the more typical (in the US) Lebanese style, and everything was thoroughly enjoyed. I can distinctly remember the pomegranates and lime of the baba ganoush and the fava bean flavor of the falafel. My dish was complex and delicious but more specific details elude me. You'll just have to try it for yourself. My mother, who had not been to Egypt since the 70s, also loved it. It was more upscale than the food she had as a student.

2 months agoWonderful! Fresh, healthy, and delicious! The falafel is perhaps the best Iโve ever hadโฆanywhere. Lots of gluten-free and vegetarian options. Weโll be coming back again very soon.
