In the year 1984 a few hardy Jordanian students, the core of which attended San Francisco State University, saw the need to establish some kind of an association to strengthen and to care for the ties between Jordanian citizens living in northern California, and to revive, promote the Jordanian art and culture in all of its aspects.
They started meeting at the homes of some members then rented a space at the Arab Cultural Center in San Francisco to be used as a temporary headquarter. On December 2nd 1984 they held their first Annual banquet at Jack Tar Hotel on Van Ness Ave in San Francisco, which was attended by more than 600 people. In November of 1995,
The Jordanian American Association was incorporated and registered at the state of California as a non-profit organization. In the late 1998 the Jordanian community bought a commercial building in downtown South San Francisco at 305 Linden Ave and made it their home.
