Serving the needs of health and natural product retailers in the Western United States, Nature’s Best is the largest privately owned wholesaler‐distributor of health and natural food products in the Natural Products Industry. Nature’s Best was founded in 1969 by a group of health food retailers from the Southern California area. Located in a 15,000 sq. ft. warehouse in El Segundo, California, the company distributed products on its own trucks to health food retailers from Santa Barbara to San Diego. The Lindberg family was one of the founding owners of Nature’s Best. Over the years, the Lindberg’s bought‐out the company’s 50 other owners, and today are the sole owners of Nature’s Best. The Lindberg’s were one of the health food industry’s early pioneers. In 1949, Walter and Gladys Lindberg, along with their son Robert, opened the first Lindberg Nutrition Service retail store in Los Angeles, California. Over the next 20 years, the chain grew to 11 stores, and was regarded as the health food industry’s first “superstores.” The rapid growth of the natural products industry has prompted Nature’s Best to expand its operations and delivery service area a number of times over the years. Nature’s Best has its Corporate offices in Brea, California and a 410,000 sq ft. distribution center in Chino, CA with another 310,00 sq ft. distribution center in Flower Mound, TX. The company also operates a cross‐dock facility and delivery vehicles in Honolulu, Hawaii. Nature’s Best carries 20,000 products from over 1,200 suppliers. Product categories include full‐line organic foods, grocery, nutritional supplements, herbs, personal care, bulk commodities, non‐foods, extensive special diets products, and refrigerated and frozen items. The company’s fleet of multi-temperature delivery trucks serves health and natural food stores, supermarkets, restaurants, colleges, schools, and drug stores throughout Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Ocean going container ships serve its customers in Hawaii, Alaska, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.
