International Grocery Store – Great selection of Middle Eastern, south Asian, Indian, European, Mexican, andAmerican decent produce and great selection.
Their vegetable section is good, as well as their selection of grains. You can find a variety of Middle Eastern products here. However, the lack of hygiene is concerning. The second-to-last time I visited, it looked cleaner, but during my last visit, the store was not clean again. There was a horrible smell coming from the trash outside, flies around, and a strange odor inside the store, which Iโve never encountered in any other store. I am not sure if they ever clean the shopping carts and fridges. Management really needs to pay more attention to hygiene and cleaning. If they do, Iโm sure theyโll have more customers.
The smell caught me the moment I walked in, it was barely tolerable. The produce section is filled with stale vegetables and fruits, and the general vibe and lighting is dreary. It will do in an emergency but I'm not going here again.
Some unique Asian food and drinks available here which arenโt commonly found anywhere in the Bay Area. For me, I found it so difficult to find Kasundhi( ground Mustard sauce/paste) in many Indian shops. Found it here along with many other things. Highly recommend!
A one stop shop for desi groceries and meat. The selection includes Indian, Pakistani, Bengali and middle eastern groceries. There is also a Mexican selection. The meat sold here is halal. Meat consists of beef, lamb, mutton and chicken. All the meat and the cut variety is excellent. This store also has free range roosters. There is also frozen fish imported from Bangladesh. There is a variety of halal sausages and processed meat. The variety of vegetables is excellent. There are good organic options also. The shop has excellent potential to improve at various levels. First is they need more counters during the peak period. The lines get very long at times. The meat section should introduce more token based systems so customers do not need in line for up to 30 min or more during the peak period. The store arranged the items in an organized manner. I feel the store can upgrade its interior design and make it even more upscale. The size of this market is big. With a bit of upgrade it can become like a halal version of Safeway. There is plenty of parking inside the plaza. There are other stores around too. There is a good space to add a coffee shop or restaurant with chairs. A nice coffee shop where families can sit have a small bite and chai while other shops are something I would recommend. The staff have always been kind to me and polite. This store is my first option for desi grocery but I feel it has potential to do much better with a bit more investment in design and process and become like a desi halal safeway.
